Carnal Flourishing

is a continuation of "Blooming Obscenity," which made its debut in New York City.  The concept within this series of small scale exhibitions is to create a meta-comedy, set within the world of my “flower universe" concentration.  In this narrative, my body of work is viewed by the “flower people," who see the collection as outlandish and vulgar paintings. Although considered scandalous in their floral universe, in our human world these physical works (each made specifically for the space) resemble easy-going abstract depictions of flowers.  Still, from the viewpoint of the flower people, the controversy and outrage over this exhibit resulted in media propaganda campaigns, both against and in favor of the opening. Newscasters, newspapers, and blogs depict the showcase as obscene- something to be banned from the public!  This idea is a nuance against what our own society views as “inappropriate“ such as what’s happening in today’s schools with book banning, women's health care and history repression.

“Carnal Flourishing” showcases sculptural works, video projections, and traditional paintings on its walls. All together, this collection further pushes the envelope of subconscious sexual desires, and what the perception of having sex means within society.

Paying homage to 1960's Floral San Francisco, the media coverage will highlight tones reminiscent of the real-world sexual revolution, found in the counterculture of the sixties, and play on the differing opinions of East and West coast Americans throughout the years.
